12.01.2006 Dr. S. Natarajan was honored as the "Distinguished citizen of Mumbai" for his outstanding and exemplary achievement in Ophthalmological walks of life and contribution to the society. Shri Vilasrao Deshmukh, Chief Minister of Maharashtra was the chief guest. This award was given to him on the auspicious occasion of Canara Bank's centenary year with 100 glorious years of existence.

 Mumbai Indian Penpals' League honoured Dr. S. Natarajan, with the title ("Vizhithirai Vithakar") "RETINA GRAND MASTER" for the extraordinary talent in Retina surgery at a grand function at Navi Mumbai Tamil Sangam,Vashi.
 Dr. S. NATARAJAN also gave a lecture on "Total Eye Care & Eye Donation" which was very informative to the gathering. Dr. S. Natarajan requested the gathering to create more awareness about eye donation and pledge the eyes and also insisted that younger generation should know more about eye care and eye donation.

Natarajan received the Senior Honour Award from the prestigious Vitreous Society of U.S.A. on 10th January 2001 at Cancun, Mexico for his marvelous academic contribution in the Vitreous Society annual meetings.He is the first Indian to receive two awards from the Vitreous Society, U.S.A. viz. "Honour Award" in 1998 and "the Senior Honour Award" in 2000.

1998 Dr. S. Natarajan was the only Indian recipient of the prestigious American Vitreous Society 1998 honour award which is awarded to those individuals who had contributed as an author, panelist, moderator and/or course faculty member for a total of ten or more times.
